This is based on a holster in the book “Packing Iron”, and the unique design date from around 1865-1875.
It is still the Californian SlimJim style but with a bit of personalisation with a ‘highlight’ of leather, a button, and not forgetting the suede fringe.
The decorative hand carved pattern on the holster is as close to the book’s photo as I can get it. Of course, everything being hand made to order, means that the size, colour, even a change of design can be accomadated.
It is made from approvimately 3.4mm vegetable tanned leather, is hand carved, stamped, and hand stitched.
A customer asked me to make this holster for him, and his ‘character’, and the image he sent me is certainly stunning. Just imaging this holster for your black powder hand gun, and the suede Poineer cover for your Winchester. Maybe with the suede butt bullet holder, just to finish the outfit.
