Here's another little addition to your Western collection for use in re-enactment or just to finish off your Civil War display.    

The ball pouch is made from usually about 3.5-4mm vegetable tan leather, and the flap is fastened with a good sturdy, Sam Brown brass fitting.   This is not a thin knock off design using cheap and nasty leather, the pouch is made to last, using a quality vegetable tanned leather.  The design is based on an Al Stohlman pattern, and uses his suggested weight of leather.   

The belt loops will easily accommodate a 2 1/2" gun belt, and it fits in nicely with the American Civil War gun holster, and even the black powder flask pouch.

I hand sew all these items, and I do not stamp the designs, but hand carve the insignia on the flap.  The methods I used to make these item are pretty close to the same methods as used in making the original pouch.   

This pouch is available in various colours, such as Spanish Brown, Walnut, or Black.   You can also have the flap left plain, with the US marking, or have CS carved on it.   I can even carve or stamp a pattern onto the pouch, but that will cost a bit more, of course.
