We have here a copy of an American Civil War holster with a flap, and traditional fittings.

It is not one of those cheap ones you see with thin leather machine sewn in to cut costs.   The whole holster is made from veg tan leather at least 3.5mm thick, and is hand stitched.   It also has a leather plug (or toe) sewn into the bottom of it, so it is as close the the genuine holster as possible.

The basic holster is based on an old and ancient pattern, but I have done my best to check that the details are pretty close to the style used in the American Civil War, on both sides.   The holster will easily fit a 5 1/2"+ barrel gun, but I can cut it to fit a longer barrel, just let me know the details of your gun.

You can have the holster with or without the US design on the flap, or the CS stamp, or plain. It also looks rather nice in Spanish Brown.   I don't actually have a stamp as such, I hand carve the designs.

Just to mention, the finished holster is quite hard as it should be.   Apart from this being the by-product of dampening the leather to work it, it is also necessary to safely remove, and re-holster your gun.   This is how your holster keeps its shape.

This holster was in use by civilians after the American Civil War, and can be seen in old photographs, sometimes with the flap cut off, other times with the flap tucked behind the belt.
